Whale watching at Cape Solander

We've been twice now to Cape Solander at Kurnell for whale watching - the first time a couple of weeks ago and then yesterday with some friends. We were lucky yesterday that we actually saw a whale since the season was officially over and the park ranger told me the last whale was seen two days previously. Well, the whale we saw yesterday must be one that believes in travelling off-peak! It was nice to see the kids get excited about seeing a whale.

Liem is 8!

Well, he turned 8 two months ago and I'm only now blogging about it...heh heh heh! Lots of Lego as presents...a Z95 Headhunter from Grandma and Grandpa, a Bionicle from Kiran, the computer game Minecraft from Mum and Dad... We had a couple of his friends over for a very small party (play session?) and they spent the whole time playing Minecraft...and birthday cake actually went uneaten!

Rolling in the doona

This is a game that Rina and Liem love to play. One person rolls him or herself in the doona and the other person roll them out. They did this several times then found out it was MUCH more fun to get Mummy to roll them out!

Lego organiser

Liem really loves Lego and we have an absolute fortune in Lego in the house! In terms of replay value though, Lego is so worth it. It was also getting to be a nightmare trying to find bits that we (ahem, I mean he) wanted for making new things. So we set about organising the Lego.

Being the anal type, we first separated them into colours and put them in whatever container we could find including buckets, shoe boxes, a helmet, an aircraft carrier, an octopus and a pumpkin lantern. Once we knew what we had, we went out and bought some plastic drawers and some containers that fit into the drawers for the colours that we only had a few pieces of. Tada! Much easier now to find things....although there have been comments like, "Mum! Who put the blue pants in the blue drawer?"

Prince Edward Park Take Two

Well, it's been a while since I last blogged! Most of these photos are a few months old now....oh well...

Here we are, Liem and I taking a second walk in Prince Edward Park while Daddy was away. This time, the walk was extra long because I took Liem all the way to the Loftus exit of the park, thinking we could just go home via the swimming pool forgetting that there was a train line in the way and no way to cross it. Liem did really well but I think I've scarred him for life... Liem pretty much said he didn't want to go for any more walks after that. Oopsie...

It's still hard to believe that we live so close to such a lot of natural beauty (and never knew it!). We're going to try and enjoy it as much as we can at the moment. And dragging Liem with us too because it's so good for him!
