Yum cha with godbrothers

We had a lovely yum cha with my godbrothers last weekend. Liem did really well with the chopsticks (considering we don't use them at home).

Which came first?

Daddy: Which came first? The chicken or the egg?
Mummy: The chicken.
Daddy: Ah...but where did the chicken come from?
Liem: The chicken shop!

Computer games already!

Liem playing a computer game from the Dora the Explorer website.

Picture that Liem took

The top picture is one I took of Liem when we were having a ride in the steam train. The bottom picture is one that Liem took of Khiem and I.

A Real Holiday

We have finally had a holiday that felt like a real holiday (for me, that is). We spent most of the time in Torquay, taking day trips to Geelong, Melbourne, Lorne and Queenscliff. Liem had fun in various playgrounds, having a ride on a train and a carousel at the Geelong waterfront, having a ride on a steam train and watching a ferry at Queenscliff, shopping (okay, actually Mummy had more fun there)...we even had a day warm enough to have a dip in the sea. Lots of relaxed meals, catch ups with old friends and family....ahhh....that's what a holiday is all about...

The best toy

I can well believe it when I heard the cardboard box was inducted into the toy hall of fame. Liem has been playing with this box for ages and doesn't seem to get tired with it. It's been his car, his house, his boat, his oven...

Cool dude

Who's this cool dude?

See saw

These new see saws are great....you don't need to have someone else sitting on the other side to get them to work.

Wobbly bridge

Ever since Liem managed to cross the wobbly bridge in "his" playground, he's gained a massive boost in his self-confidence. Now he can reach the big slides which he loves. He also talks a lot about taking his friend Grace across the wobbly bridge.

The most fascinating word

There's something very fascinating about the word that Liem has just written himself.

Miracle cure

Liem and I have been having this long drawn out cold. It's been weeks and we are still having runny noses and slight coughs. Nothing bad enough to warrant staying home, but annoying and tiring. Early Sunday morning, I had this conversation with Liem:

Liem: Mummy, I'm feeling worse....my throat is sore...
Mummy: Oh, alright. We won't go to the bike track then and I'll take you to the doctor instead.
(Pause)
L: Maybe if I drink some water I'll feel better. (Drinks some water). I'm feeling a bit better.
M: Oh good.
L: I think I'll have a rest on the couch and then I'll feel better. (Lies down on the couch for a minute). I'm better! Mummy! I'm better! We can go to the bike track today!

It's a miracle cure!

Day care gossip

We have lately been treated to quite a bit of day care gossip...we hear stories about what happens to the other kids at day care (who wet their pants, who got told off for fighting) and also what happens to their families at home. However it's not possible to believe everything you hear...

Liem: A powiceman took-ded Jye's Mummy's wawwet.
Mummy and Daddy: Really?
L: Yes, someone should catch-ded that powiceman and MAKE him give it back!

The real story is that someone did take Jye's Mummy's wallet but it WASN'T the policeman! Somehow the story got garbled somewhere.

There was also the story where Jack and Aidan's house was on fire and Aidan jumped out of the window and the fireman helped Jack out. Completely untrue. Someone made that story up.

Which also leads us to wonder what other people have been hearing about us....

Liem and Wrappie

Liem has a favourite bed friend called Wrappie. Wrappie is a piece of muslin cloth that we used to wrap Liem with when he was a baby to put him to sleep. Liem's much too big to be wrapped up now, but he still likes to have Wrappie with him in bed. As far as I can tell (from what Liem tells me), Wrappie is a baby girl and has to be fed, she also likes kisses and cuddles. Wrappie also has opinions...

Liem (after his bath while being slathered with cream by Mummy): Cream retects my skin.
Mummy: Not REtects, PROtects.
L: Protests.
M: Not proTESTS, proTECTS.
L: Wrappie says retects.
M: Well, Wrappie is not the boss.
L: Wrappie is getting naughty, isn't she?
M: Yes, she is.
L (while getting into bed): Wrappie, it's protests not retects.
M: ProTECTS! ProTECTS!!

Fairy bread

Liem: Fairy bread is made from fairies....

Liem: M-O-O is moo, L-O-O is loo, P-O-O is poo. How do you spell BUM?

Liem counting

"...thirty seven, thirty eight, thirty nine, thirty ten..."

Another party!

This time it was another little boy's party. Liem had fun playing with someone else's toys and had a piece of red cake that gave him a really red tongue!
