"Is it his jacket?"

I am picking Liem up from After School Care and the lady in charge says to me, "Liem has something very exciting to show you", and she continues, "He thought he'd lost it but he found it again". I ask excitedly, "Is it his jacket?". We've been having an ongoing problem with lost jackets this year... No, turns out Liem won an academic award at school and received a medal! Well done, Liem!

Lego

We have been really surprised at some of the things Liem has been making with his Lego toys. Gone are the days when we had to make the toys for him. He can now easily follow the instructions to make them himself. Then he breaks them up and makes his OWN toys. These are all things he's made himself - most of them have figures in battle scenes, and there's one of Cyggy the Sydney Swans' mascot.

Helping Mummy crush biscuits

Here's Liem helping Mummy to crush digestive biscuits for a cheese cake base. Not liking Mummy to take a photo of him though...

Science experiments

Liem has science experiments to do at home sometimes. Here's one where we had to make one red ice cube and one blue ice cube then let them melt. Thus the homework for Mummy involved borrowing some blue food colouring from our neighbour, then making several blue and red ice cubes before letting Liem loose on them.

There was another experiment where Liem had to plant two watermelon seeds, water them everyday and watch them grow. Several problems cropped up straight away. One, we had just done shopping on the weekend and weren't going to do anymore shopping that week. Two, we made a special trip to the fruit shop to get some watermelon. The watermelon had NO SEEDS! Three, we planted lemon seeds instead. Watered them every day. Nothing grew! Hahahaha....several months later, I've just noticed two very small lemon plants growing in the garden!

That cowboy over there...

Okay, so he has guns...I've been told that banning guns only makes guns more desirable. Still not entirely happy about it, but going with the flow...found out that girls like to play with guns too! There have been at least two girls over here charging around with guns, telling people to "Put your haaaaands up!"

These guns came with a cowboy costume for the school disco that Liem went to. And Liem won first prize for his costume too...the announcer said, "And the first prize goes to.....that cowboy over there!" Liem was happy he won first prize but not happy about the prize itself - it was a purple whistle and to Liem, purple is a "girl colour". Ha ha ha!
