Watsons Bay

Khiem went sailing early this morning at Woolahra. Liem and I took a train to Town Hall, then a bus to Circular Quay, then a ferry to Rose Bay where Khiem hopped onto the ferry and we all headed out to Watsons Bay. A lovely fish and chips lunch at Doyles, then a walk up to Gap Park and through a bit of the Sydney Harbour National Park. Beautiful views! Then a ferry back to Rose Bay and then home again.

Mr Stickybeak and Mrs Silverwing

After visiting the aquarium at Manly and hearing about the penguins called Mr Stickybeak and Mrs Silverwing, Liem was inspired to write this comic about them.

Manly Sealife Sanctuary

Last weekend, Khiem went sailing at Manly so we got a ride and went to the Manly Sealife Sanctuary there. It's quite a small aquarium but also very pleasant for it. Our favourite section was Penguin Cove with all the cute little penguins. We stayed for the penguin talk and learnt lots of interesting facts. I hadn't realised that there were actually wild penguins living around Manly. We were told stories of Mr Stickybeak and Mrs Silverwing, a couple of rescued penguins that paired up after meeting at Taronga zoo. On being released back into the while, they settled around Manly. Mr Stickybeak was found one night walking into the Flamenco nightclub in Manly and had to be escorted out by the bouncer for not paying his entry fee. Mrs Silverwing, not to be outdone, was found one morning on the beach with a disposable coffee cup stuck on her head.
While walking along the beach we also saw dolphins swimming by the Manly ferry. A wonderful experience!
