First wobbly tooth out!

When Liem's second shark tooth made its appearance, I thought we would have to get the baby tooth in front of it extracted by the dentist again. I rang the dentist on the Friday and the first available spot we could get was Monday evening. On Saturday, Liem said the front tooth was wobbly and it was! A tiny bit wobbly! I said to him to wobble it until it was really wobbly and pull it out himself, then he wouldn't need to go to the dentist and we would save money. Not thinking of course that he would do it... But he did! He wobbled it all weekend and on Monday after school, pulled it out himself! YAY! Well done, Liem!

YO, Rip Van Tinkle...

Last night, after Liem's shower, he pops his head round the corner and says to us, "YO, Rip Van Tinkle, what up dog?"

I blame reading too many Captain Underpants books. Although Liem tells me "it's NOT Captain Underpants, it's SUPER DIAPER BABY."

Right....soooo...what up dog?

Shark tooth again!

Here we go again, another shark tooth! When Liem had his first shark tooth, we were told teeth come up in pairs and it was likely he would get another one. Well, here it is. Last time the front tooth wasn't even wobbly. This time the front tooth is slightly wobbly. I'm trying to get Liem to wobble it like mad and get it out before our appointment at the dentist so we can save money. Not sure if that'll happen though. In any case, Liem's first wobbly tooth...at age 7 and three quarters.

Uncle Willie's birthday

We celebrated Uncle Willie's birthday with him recently. Once again we were fed royally - Monk Jump Over the Wall! Steamed fish by Nat! Lots and lots of lovely food... Uncle Willie requested a tiramisu cake and it was the first time I made one. Turned out alright. Liem had another swim in the pool...this time Uncle Willie and Aunty Siu Chyn got in as well, a bit cold though. Once you were in and swimming a bit, it was alright. After 45 minutes it was way too cold and we all got out. A wonderful day...

Harmony Day

Liem's school celebrated Harmony Day last Thursday. I took the day off and made fried rice to represent my culture! I made fried rice last year as well, and it's good to see the kids eat it. When Liem was in Kindy, I made a Malaysian cake called appam hitam manis, but no one ate it! I think it might be fried rice every year!

It was a good opportunity to meet up with other parents, eat yummy food, tar pao leftover food home.... We heard Liem's teacher say that if there was leftover food to just throw it away. I was shocked! Throw away good food??? Must volunteer every year for cleaning up duties so that can take home all the uneaten food. Hahaha...

Oh, forgot to say that Liem is in the choir. They sang a song called "Count on Me".

Chinese New Year lunch

We had Chinese New Year lunch at Aunty Siu Chyn and Uncle Willie's house. What a feast! Yee sang! Abalone! Fried wonton! Kangkung belacan! And many more...

After lunch, Liem had a swim in the pool. He had a great time!
Edit: I found another photo that Uncle Willie took.

CNY decorations

CNY over here in Australia is never as big a deal as it is back home. Here are the CNY decorations that Liem made for our house. I'm not even going to put up photos of our reunion dinner - it was so plain, certainly nothing like the elaborate feasts being posted by everyone else. Still, we were together as a family and that's what counts.

Kung fu promotions

We attended a kung fu promotions party in January (boy, has it been that long since I posted photos?). We watched the students give demonstrations and then Liem received his new yellow belt from his teacher Mark. Liem's friend from school Oliver (boy with purple hair) received his new purple belt. After several months of kung fu, we have become quite close to Mark and his family. We occasionally meet up at the swimming pool, birthday parties, also school functions. Very nice to make new friends.

Weighty issues

I need to lose some weight...Liem thinks his little brother is inside my tummy...argh!
