Boys!

We were at a 4th birthday party on the weekend at an indoor play park. I heard a lady there telling about her daughter who didn't want to go to the play park because she would get her dress dirty. Also she didn't want to take off her shoes (you have to take shoes off to play on the play equipment). I thought, what a GIRL!!! Liem, on the other hand, was only too happy to pull off his shoes and green Santa's helper hat and race off to climb all over the play equipment.

My days are spent with boy's toys of all sorts....we watch Porco Rosso (Liem's favourite dvd about an Italian sea plane pilot who has been turned into a pig), we play with planes of all sorts all day - planes Liem has made with duplo, paper planes, plastic toy planes.... One of our neighbours gave Liem a toy plane and the first thing he does is point out to me the SIX GUNS that are on the plane wings. Yesterday we are playing with a lego fire engine, he is playing with the toy water sprayer and tells me, "I wish I had a bigger gun than this". On previous occasions, he has also asked for "a gun I don't have to make". He's also played with our neighbour's super soakers (BIG water guns) - LOVES them and wants one for Christmas. I am determined to stick to my NO GUN policy - Liem, of course, will find a way to deal with this, in his own way (points "gun" fingers at Mummy, "Piu, piu!").

Why Mummy has to work and what Daddy bought for Liem

Khiem and Liem drove to Melbourne to visit Grandma and Grandpa. This was because Liem's day care lady went on holiday for 3 weeks. I've run out of leave so Khiem had to take annual leave to look after Liem. For the long drive, we bought a portable dvd player which can hang on the back of the front car seat so Liem could watch dvds on the long drive to Melbourne.

Khiem tells me that Liem has been telling everyone that his mummy ran out of money and so she had to go to work, but Daddy had plenty of money and bought him a tv...

Who's giving Liem a hair cut?

We make the god-grandfather work hard around here.

A good day out

A few weeks ago, I wanted to take Liem to the bike track and have a picnic. Didn't realise that there was a fundraising fete on at the time and we had to park a distance away. So we didn't bring the bike with us, but we did have a picnic. Then Liem had a good jumping session in the jumping castle and a good play in the playground. It was a good day out.

Another driving tip from Liem

A few months ago, I had a very minor car accident. I was backing out of the garage and our neighbour was also backing out of his garage. Too busy looking at the front corner of the car (where I had previously scraped against the garage wall), I ignored the beeping from the car's park-assist and bumped into our neighbour's car. His car came away without a scratch and our bumper was dented. Khiem popped it back out and it's now ok.

A few days ago, we were all inside the house when Liem noticed our neighbour going out. "Ian's going out! Don't bump into him!" he shouts out to me. Thanks for the tip, Liem.
