Letters and words
We were playing with a spare keyboard the other day and Liem showed off his knowledge of letters. The letter "i" is his favourite - it's everywhere and he pointed all of them to me. "I", "1", "!", "-", "_", "\", "/" and "|". "O" and "0" are "circle"s. "T" and "+" are both "t"s. The letter "v" can be found at "^", "<" and ">" as well. Yesterday he pointed to the fridge and said "LG" (the brand of the fridge) and then brought his wooden letters "L" and "e" to match up with the "LG". They do look quite similar...
Liem also swaps some of the consonants in words and is starting to put 2-3 words together. For example:
"Limen water" - Liem's water
"Limen chair" - Liem's chair
"Limen egg" - Liem has egg for breakfast
"Orjen shirt" - Orange shirt
"Mummy orjen jumpon" - Mummy's orange jumper
"Beer" - beer
"Daddy orjen beer" - Daddy's whisky
"Orjen soup" - pumpkin soup
"Orjen mook" - orange milk (juice)
"Orjen ball" - orange
And of course, he knows a lot of food words:
"kaka" - rice crackers
"bikkut" - biscuit
"tanas" - sultanas
"flake" - corn flakes
"bubbul" - "rice bubbles"
"hice" - rice
"mook" - milk
"froot" - fruit in tub
"dried froot" - dried fruit
"sauce" - tomato sauce
"sauce-edge" - sausage
"broc" - broccoli
"tato" - potato
"carrot" - carrot
"corn" - corn
"noonel" - noodle
"shell" - mussels. (Khiem made mussels one day and Liem has been asking for "shell" ever since).
He also came home one day and started saying "mine!" a lot. And then it changed to "mines!" At least he can say "bubbye" now although he still likes to raise his arms and say "caro!" (to get someone to carry him).
Yesterday we had a conversation like this:
Liem (brings over a toy calf to mummy, waves it in the air): Cow
Mummy: Baby cow
Liem: Cow, baby cow
Mummy: A baby cow is also called a calf
Liem: Cow cow-cow cow-cow
Mummy: Calf
Liem: COW!
Mummy: Calf
Liem: COW! COW! COW!
Mummy: Alright, it's a cow.
Liem (triumphantly): COW!
